Kushiro Shitsugen National Park

This is largest marsh in the country, and has an area of approximately 25,000 ha and a river that magnificently winds through the primeval land. It is a nature paradise for plants and animals of approximately 2,000 varieties, including Japanese cranes, a natural monument.
Cape Kiritappu

With precipitous cliffs rising sharply before you, Cape Kiritappu, whose official name is Cape Tofutsu, is a picturesquely beautiful world. At the tip of the cape is a lighthouse, and the cliffs fall into the sea.
The sea with drift ice and "Aurora-go"

Drift ice, which covers all around the sea, experiences many dramas while traveling over long times. Aurora-go cruises on this ice field for one hour, offering an opportunity to explore an unknown, impressive world.

Lake Akan, Marimo (algae ball)

Reflecting Mt. Oakan and Mt. Meakan on its surface, beautiful Lake Akan is inhabited by marimo, a natural monument. Many legends surround the algae balls, and they play a leading part in many poems.
Todowara, the Notsuke Peninsula

This is a scenic spot in the Notsuke Peninsula. An old forest of Sakhalin firs was eroded by seawater to become this salty marsh. In contrast with the bleak landscape in Todowara, the vicinity of the tip of the Notsuke Peninsula is a natural flower garden filled with colorful flowers.
Shari Ikushina Natural Flower Garden

This natural flower garden stretches along the east coast in downtown Shari. In mid-June, Japanese roses, ezokanzo (day lilies) and ezosukashi-yuri (a kind of lily) begin to bloom, covering the garden with their bright orange hues.

Lake Mashu
This mysterious lake has the honor of being one of the most crystal-clear lakes in the world. Since thick fogs often form in summer, and the lake surface cannot be seen very often, the lake is called "Kiri no Mashuko (Misty Lake Mashu)".
Lake Shikaribetsu

Embraced by primeval forests, this is a mysterious lake, 16 km in circumference. The scenery that can be seen from the lakeside, including Mt. Tembo, is spectacular. The natural monument pikas inhabit this area.
