The night view from Mt. Hakodate is the most famous in Japan. The mountaintop commands a fantastic, jewelry-like view spreading below your eyes. It is said to be the most brilliant view in the world.
Goryokaku Park

This is Japan's first Western-style castle, which became well known through the events in the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate. The castle site is used as Goryokaku Park at present and famous for its cherry blossoms.
Trappistine Convent

This is Japan's first women's convent, established in 1898 by eight sisters on a mission from France. In its exhibition room, you can get a glance into the life of a sister.

Ukishima Park
The floating island in Ugui Marsh, one of the eight great landscapes in Southern Hokkaido, is a paradise drifting on the mysterious lake, with a nature trail amidst nature, beautiful skunk cabbage and autumn foliage.
Onuma Quasi-National Park

The nature park consists of Mt. Komaga-take, a symbol of the sightseeing in Southern Hokkaido, and Onuma, large and small swamps dotting the foot of the mountain. The area has vegetation that is seen in temperate regions and rare in Hokkaido, producing beautiful landscapes that change from season to season.
Shikabe Geyser Park

The Japanese-style park features the only geyser in Hokkaido, which was discovered in 1924. Hot water with a temperature of approximately 100oC spouts up to a height of 15 m at ten-minute intervals.
